about lafayette

Lafayette is a cultural haven where Cajun history meets urban sophistication. Positioning itself as a forward-thinking, technologically advanced metropolis ready for tomorrow’s entertainment, Lafayette embraces creative activity and encourages studios, production companies and independent filmmakers to utilize Lafayette not only because of its unique scenery and uncompromised spirit but because of its efforts to build toward the next generation’s resources.

Even the University, ULL, has top-notch equipment and capital. The University is preparing its students to work in the entertainment industry, providing full editing suites, 12 Canon Standard Definition Digital Video Cameras, and 12 Panasonic HVX 200 High Definition Cameras. The campus also has multiple editing suites for both NTSC standard definition video post production as well as for High Definition post production.

ULL has always zeroed in on technology as a primary focus; therefore, the newest addition to the University’s campus, the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE), has been exciting for the entire community. The LITE Center, a $27 million, 70,000 square foot complex, is one of the most comprehensive and tightly integrated visualization and high performance computing installations in the world.

The LITE Center is powered by a graphic supercomputer, which enables the public to view volumes of complex data. LITE translates technology into workable 3-D models in real time. The center will actively explore ground-breaking ways to coordinate with the entertainment industry. Ground-breaking entertainment research will reveal how to combine 3-D stimulations and revolutionary entertainment.

Due to the rapidly growing revolutionary technological advances in Lafayette, the city is a perfect setting to host a digital media event of this caliber. Lafayette is a city of innovation and artistic expression--truly one of the most lively cities in the world—an ideal venue for an International Expo. iDiDx will screen a wide array of digital video highlighting the many different voices and influences around the world. The event will facilitate the development of local as well as global infrastructure designed to maximize next-generation entertainment technology.

iDiDx is interested in works that are currently in-development. Give yourself the opportunity to pitch your unfinished product to noteworthy content producers. We are currently accepting call for entries; applications are available right here on our website
